Q: What is UBrand?

A: UBrand is the new, easiest way to identify and personalize backpacks, luggage and all your other gear. If you’ve ever stood at the airport baggage carousel and watched one black bag after another pass you by, then you know why UBrand is a timely concept. Other means of luggage identification are usually attached to the handle of a bag, which can make them hard to spot unless the bag is upright. UBrand is a one-time simple application – just stick one almost anywhere on your bag and it instantly becomes one-of-a-kind.

Q: Is UBrand just a sticker?

A: UBrand is much more than a sticker in several ways. UBrand labels are constructed with durable polymer-based materials and are an average of 1mm thick, giving them a three dimensional appearance. The unique adhesive system was designed to stick to nylon fabrics (which the majority of bags, backpacks and luggage are made of) without becoming “gooey” or peeling off. Once applied, the UBrand labels bend with the flexion of the fabric without wrinkling and can actually look like they’re part of the bag’s construction!

UBrand labels stay on until you take them off. If you do decide to remove them, just pry a fingernail under them and peel away slowly. Unlike a sticker they will not damage your bag.

Q: Why is it called UBrand?

A: Beyond fulfilling the basic need for identifying and personalized your stuff, UBrand believes that the brand on your bags should be more about you than about the manufacturer of the bag itself: You should be able to put your own unique brand on your bag. Express ideas and concepts that are meaningful to you, rather than just the name brand the bag came with.

Q: How do I apply UBrand labels to my stuff?

A: The first thing you need to do is make sure that the surface you are applying the UBrand label to is clean, dry and free of dirt and oils. You also want to make sure that the area where the label is smooth and is not on a part of the bag where there are seams, folds, buttons or tacks. To apply, simply peel the backing off the label and firmly press it into the fabric, rubbing it for several seconds. The adhesive bond will actually strengthen over time.

Q: Do UBrand labels really withstand the elements of rough travel?

A: Yes! They’re seriously water, UV and temperature resistant. Our testers subjected their luggage to all kinds of travel conditions – from 14 hour flights in cold airplane cargo holds, into the tropics, to the backs of hot cars for hours, and one even briefly submerged their bags in water to ensure that UBrand can withstand the rigors of rough travel. The bags have traveled through dozens of airports and through the hands of those less-than-gentle baggage handlers. Through it all, the UBrand adhesive stays on and the labels look as good as when you first put them on.

Q: Can UBrand labels be used on items besides bags and luggage?

A: Although originally designed for luggage, fans of UBrand have also applied them successfully to jackets, skis, helmets, bicycles, cars, tents…most kinds of gear you can think of!
